Cancer treatment can leave patients with muscle weakness and decreased range of motion. If left unchecked, this can lead to muscular compensations and alignment issues.

Pilates is a gentle and effective exercise system that can improve strength, flexibility, balance and confidence. It is ideal for cancer patients as it is low impact and can be easily modified to suit individual needs and abilities.

Whether you have been recently diagnosed or are years out of treatment, join us in learning ways to support yourself through treatment and for years to come.

More about Bridgeport Hospital's Integrative Medicine and Support Services

"My visits with Laura were so helpful during radiation treatment. I had done weeks of PT to get the flexibility I needed to get my arm over my head just to undergo radiation treatments, and Pilates helped me maintain my range of motion. Most importantly, however, was how working with Laura made me feel. Having cancer made me feel like my body had betrayed me. Pilates helped me get re-introduced to my body in a positive way, and that was priceless." - Meg S
